Makalu Christmas Lunch at Trocadero Playa in Marbella
This afternoon the Makalu team celebrated the holiday season with christmas lunch on the beach at Trocadero Playa, in Marbella, Spain. It was the first time we'd been to Trocadero since they converted the seasonal "chiringuito" into a restaurant open year-round. The food was simply amazing, and the company was great! In attendance were Alex, Carlotta, Zack, Arto, Ben, Pino, myself and Niall (the double-dipper, who partook in the Makalu Germany christmas dinner last week!)
FIRST, came the starters...
Sashimi starter — raw tuna and seaweed with a sesame sauce.
Salmorejo Cordobés — A thick gazpacho with chunks of ham, boiled egg and raisins.
SECOND came the main dishes...
Lubina en Sal — Sea bass cooked in a shell of salt.
Pez Espada — Swordfish with sliced potatoes and fresh veggies.
Pan seared tuna.
Solomillo de ternera — Lamb filet mignon. Best steak I've had in a long time. Cooked perfectly!
AND FINALLY the scrumptious desserts...
American-style cheesecake.
Last but not least, hot chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream...
